This article doesn't really rattle my brain as it may have others. I already knew that people live to be perfect and of what others think of. I knew people didn't feel accepted like they should. I knew all of that. The one part that I had a new focus on was that perfectionism led to "I am worthy", which led to courage. Everyone is worthy. Why should they have to lie about themselves, or go into debt to buy clothes that would make them worthy? Courage is needed to be "perfect". You have to have courage to know you are the best you'll be (worthy). And then when you find that you're worthy, you are perfect. The one thing that I will carry to my grave is: I am worthy!
I'm with Tyler this really didn't rattle my mind, because i know how people want to p be perfect and want all the nice things, but it is kinda sad how extreme people go to be perfect.I do understand that people want to be thin and beautiful and popular, and etc., but you really don't ned all of that beacuse everyone isnt goin to be thin or beautiful or popular. What people don't know is how to be humble and dont worry about qwhat the world thinks ,eventhough its hard not to,and the people who are thin and who you think are beautiful, are the shallowest people and really have low self esteem thats why they put others down. If people really knew that we were made in Gods image then we wouldnt have to worry bout all these things that are useless and really dont matter.
I also, have to agree with Tyler, it really doesnt bother me that much that people try to be perfect. I know that i myself try to be perfect in alot of things like athletics and such, but thats just because i know i can do better and i push myself. I dont think that people should strive to be perfect because nobody can be perfect in this sinful world, and the only person ever to be perfect was jesus. I agree with ashley that you dont have to be skinny, sober, young, older, tall, or short to be perfect. God made you perfectly in his image so why do you want to change that just for other people. Then if you have the favor of others, what do you acomplish in life. I wasnt born to please others.
as a fourteen year old girl, daily i am attacked with grenades of
-you're not pretty enough
-your clothes aren't stylish enough
-you're not rich enough
-you are not attractive
-you have no 'swagg'
-your teeth are crooked
-you have bad acne
-you're not smart
and i could go on and on the infinite list of imperfections we should avoid; but i learned a valuable lesson somewhere along 7th or 8th grade:
people are always going to be talking about you. no matter how pretty, smart, popular, big, small, tall you are; no matter where you are on the stereotypical scale of popularity, people will always have something to say. there's always that person that has to feel superior to everyone. someone who's not willing to swallow their pride just to say 'sorry'. personally i think these people should grow up. we all know better. we should just accept the way God made us, we should appreciate what he gives us in a a gumble way <3
The question (WHY) goes through everyones head why this? why that? But we have to be glad with what God gave us. People suffer becuase fo their imperfections but we should learn how to value ourself more and find our inner beuty. To God were all beutiful becuase of his great love for us.
With in time i have learned how to be happy with myself. I also think sometimes including me people should keep their rude comments to thereselves becuase we dont know how much were hurting the person were talking about. Thats all i have to say just ask God for help and he will help you but also have faith in him and yourself :)
First i wonder to myself what is the meaning of perfect. Is it having everything,or having money or the most girls. Honestly, i believe that there was only one perfect man that lived on this earth.Who is Jesus christ our lord and saviour. I mean you may try to be perfect by not doing bad things day to day but, that wouldnt be considered perfect. Like nyquasha said i wasnt born to please others. I have to agree with that. I was only here on this earth to spread the gospel and to live my life for God. I may have swagger,or nice clothes but that wont change if i will be in heaven or not. I have to live everyday like it is my last and obviously to live my life to the fullest. Not by drinking or partying hard but by having fun in christ.I agree with ty,ash, and any about not worrying about being perfect but, i am going to be completely honest with you. Sometimes i do feel like i have to prove myself to people.Which is obviously not a good thing.
