Historical Guilt

Is there such a thing as historical guilt? If so, what should we do about it?

  1. I don't know. I think "historical guilt" is a myth and just not possible. Yes, this country had made some selfish actions and sent the Sioux Indians. But that was over like a long time ago...let's look at 2011, okay? We made treaties with them over a few hundred years ago. Not all treaties last forever esoecially depending upon the circumstances...like the one we're discussing. I believe the Sioux don't need to have the Black Hills, but the governemnt does need to step in and give them some money to fix their homes, buy healthier foods, and build homes for the homeless.

  2. I disagree with Tyler. I think that we indeed do take the best meat. The U.S. has done an embarrassing job of keeping their treaties. Okay, so we move Native Americans to a reservation and just leave them there and forget about them, and we don't even bother to offer a helping hand? I mean, I've never really taken notice of what kind of conditions they are living in. To me, it seems like the "high and mighty" U.S. has treated these people so bad, and to think that they were here before us for crying out loud! I think the Sioux deserve to have the Black Hills back, how bad could it be? I definitely think "historical guilt" applies to this.

  4. Lol @ jennifer. I agree with Jennifer i think the Sioux Natives should have the reservation, but i do not want the U.S to just leave them there and forget they put them there. These people have done alot ,and i'm just now noticing them myself. I personally think that the U.S should have just left some of the Indians alone a long time ago, maybe they wouldn't be living like this who knows? I just which the best for these people.

  5. I agee with Tyler, I think that because the USA and Europe are higher and commanding forces the other countries dont challenge us to get the most luxuries. We take the the best meat without putting in consideration who is affected. The perfect example is moving the Indians. We move people who have been there before us, slap a number on em and let them pick up from there. That was selfish.
